France 2 relaunches "Flash(s)" with Miou-Miou and Marie Denarnaud, mother-daughter duo, at the heart of the mystery

Proposed last year, the one-off Flash(s) wasn't necessarily intended to have a sequel, this story of a mother, a medium, who no longer speaks much to her daughter, a cop, while an investigation will force them to live together. The medium is Miou-Miou, the cop is Marie Denarnaud. Two talented actresses who wanted to work together. The mayonnaise took so well - 4.2 million viewers - that a second opus, still directed by Christophe Douchand, was released and arrives on our screens this Wednesday evening: Double vue .

Eight years ago, Audrey Beau-Manoir (Anne Azoulay) was found near her husband's body, holding the murder weapon. Suffering from amnesia following the shock, she believed herself guilty and allowed herself to be condemned. Today, her memory is slowly returning to her, in confused fragments. What if she were innocent? Claire Morvan (Miou-Miou), sensing her in danger, will put her in touch with her daughter Mathilde, a police commander played by Marie Denarnaud. A return to our screens that fully satisfies the actress, currently filming the final season of HPI for TF1.

Miou-Miou, ideal meeting

"The first episode was designed as a one-off, it was a really nice surprise to come back and it allows us to explore the relationship between my character and Miou-Miou's. In the first, she is absolutely against the idea of working with her mother, here, their relationship has improved, there is a kind of rapprochement. "

There is a deep, sincere, mutual respect between the two women. The older sister was very keen to work with the younger sister. "When you have the chance to work with such an actress, you can't disappoint," says Denarnaud. "She works a lot, and we quickly developed a rapport because she's someone who doesn't put herself above others. She's a fairly rare actress in television, where I mainly work at the moment. It was an enticing proposition, one that took me out of my comfort zone. It was a little unsettling because she brings so much experience, calm, adaptability, and concentration that you have to match. Miou-Miou is a huge instrument, and it lifts you up to give the cue to such an actress."

For the mother-daughter duo to work in harmony, a true connection and carefully crafted writing for the different roles were required. "For this second installment, Mathilde's role is more intense, richer, and more developed. We quickly understand that being the daughter of a medium was a real struggle because it's a rather unusual gift. This series is, above all, about the mother-daughter relationship," explains Marie Denarnaud.

"It's always nice to play characters who are far removed from who we are, but I'm a tool; when people come looking for me, it's because I can be an obvious choice for the director. There's an invisible collective effort on set; you have to feel like you belong to a whole to feel good. It reassures me to be in a collective spirit; I'm better able to unite people in such conditions."

Projects galore

While projects are coming thick and fast - Désenchantées by David Hourrègue , HPI, Comme une ombre - the 46-year-old actress is enjoying this present. "I was very lucky because I never questioned what I wanted to do with my life," she rewinds. "From the moment I learned to read, I immediately wanted to convey the emotions of a text. I took drama classes in college without necessarily planning ahead, I had no career strategy. And I'm still in that situation, I live in the present. I gradually realized that I could make a living from it. So, I didn't put any pressure on myself and it took me time to get into this profession because I never knew how to market myself. (laughs) "

In the end, we can easily admit the obvious: Marie Denarnaud did very well.

Double view, this Wednesday at 9:10 p.m., on France 2.
